Charities are required, under the Charities Act of 2011, to obtain a formal written valuation report from a Registered Valuer or Chartered Surveyor when entering into a property transaction, whether they are freehold or leasehold acquisitions, or disposals.

Similarly, when leasing premises for more than 7 years, the report serves to ensure rent is in line with the property’s market value.
